Love is ... Facebook.

I love Facebook.
It has connected me to many friends and a couple of family members, but I am at the point where I feel I have befriended everyone and their moms?

As much as I like being in everyone's profile I have accepted that it's not healthy for me.  I really do not need to be up on everyone's business.  I feel that to be able to appreciate what facebook really is (a tool to connect friends) I need to exfoliate some "friends" that may not be...friends.

So..here I come...with axe in hand....ready to cut the ties!

BUT Facebook ...I heart u!

A big one...

As much as I like me a big one [chandelier], I don't think I could hang this in my house.  Kinda makes you think...

Finally Here: Inspiration Board

My first project was to create an inspiration board.  I started by collecting pictures that would strike me in one way or another.  I didn't want to begin looking for pics with a "theme" already in mind.  Instead I wanted this exercise to bring to light the kind of inspiration I was lacking and here is what the sun shined upon!

I'll start from the bottom left side and go clockwise {and will try to be brief since I am still trying to figure out what all this means!}

  • Limes: Could be as easy as I love limes?!  I love fruit/veggies + lime + chili + salt, coca~cola and a squeeze of lime, a smooth tequile shot + lime wedge, key lime pie, lemon chicken...etc.  I also like to think that I try to make the best of a situation, such as when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

  • Hot Eva Mendes:  Aside from her looking super hot, I love the attitude she portrays in this pic.  She looks fierce, confident, and strong.

  • Proud of the Way I Look...Right Now:  Frase I want to be able to say.  Acceptance.

  • Chick in Chones: I just love how she looks!  She does not have the same body as Mendes, but she looks so joyful and also very confident!

  • Birth Day and Birthday:  I bet your birth day was very special...so Birthdays should always be celebrated and fun!

  • Nice Little Numbers:  I work with numbers and I enjoy numbers.  I love how they can all fit together, like a great big puzzle.  It's an awesome feeling when you triumph over them!  {Insert Evil Laugh - Ha, ha, ha! }

  • Most Efficient:  I am always looking for the most efficient way.  I enjoy finding solutions.

  • Lentil Soup + Salad: I figured that eating healthy is the center of all these feelings.  It also reminds me of my mom because she is always trying to feed me lentils!

  • Con Limon: Do it all Con Limon!  AKA Con Sazon!  AKA With Flavor!

So that's that...now where to go from here?

When Life Gives You Limes...

Make Key Lime Pie?  You betcha!

How funny and GENIUS!  The same day Mrs. Palin's book, Going Rogue: An American Life, hits the shelves, Going Rouge: An American Nightmare also hits the shelves.  Can't think of a better way to make something good out of a sour situation!  The title and cover might imply that it's only a parody, but it's actually a very serious book made up of essays from 23 contributors.

Sounds interesting, but truth be told I probably won't check it out.
I am more of a Chelsea Handler follower.
Call me raunchy, you betcha!

Girl's Night Out : Good Hair

This week's girls' night out included a quick bite at my [ex] roomate's place and Good Hair.
First, thanks for dinner...as much as I try to calm my hunger with an after work snack... it just doesn't work.  Also, one of the things I missed the most [now that I live alone] is having dinner with someone.  So thanks, it was very much appreciated!

We headed to the movie theater to catch Good Hair.  I was really looking forward to seeing this film after watching Chris Rock on Oprah [yes, I love me some Oprah!].  I never thought of the struggle black woman have with their hair, but I immediately identified with them.  While I don't have the same hair struggle I could place myself in their shoes.  I believe as woman we all have these struggles.  They might not be as apparent, but we do.
Need proof?  Ok, here:

While on our way back from the movies I was saying how I could not imagine the pain of relaxing my hair and how no matter the pain I would still do it.  Anything for beauty!  That's when and my [ex] roomate was able to pin point my own personal beauty sacrifice.... She said "I'll I could think about was you and your teeth whitening."  And why did she say that?  Because at dinner I told her my teeth were hurting because I was trying to whitened them...AGAIN!
So my story is that EVERY time that I try to whitened my teeth I can't get passed day 2 [the process requires 10 days] because my teeth become so sensitive that I just stop.

This has been going on for at least 2 years!  I start, determined to go through with it, and then day 3 comes...and I stop.  I just can't help it!  I have the hope that one day I will be able to go through with it and end up with great pearly whites!  Yes, we all have struggles!

I can't say that I won't try once again [probably tomorrow] to whitened my teeth, but the movie did provoke me to think about all the other silly things that I obsess over.  I have to keep in mind that "what is inside [my head] is way more important that what is on top [or in my case infront]".

Have a good day and may you smile lots [with or without pearly whites]!

It's 5 O'Clock!

I had quite an entry about this topic...but decided to stop the complaining about work.
SPECIALLY with the hard times our country is facing.

So instead I am just going to say... If you are a manager please respect your employee's 5 o'clock hour.
(AKA, Don't stop to chat at 5 o'clock)
Thanks.

Sweetest Day 2009!

I had an awesome sweetest day and I have my girlfriends to thank for that!  The day didn't start out so well... I had breakfast with my boyfriend and it sucked.  There is no other way to put it.  I love Saturday breakfast...mostly because I don't sit down for breakfast any other day so I always look forward to Saturday.  We got pancakes...but they were wheat pancakes and a mushroom omelet...the pancakes were hard, dry and thick and the omelet was blah and to make matters worse it was expensive!

I had my girlfriends come to visit me for a mini house warming.  This is where we would be working on our inspiration boards

After, looking for inspirition pics and chatting about our goals, wants, values, beliefs, and a bunch of other girly topics we headed for some yummy dinner!

The lucky restaurant that hosted us was Lulu's Dim Sum.  The food was delicious!

All in all, we had a chance to catch up!  I feel so inspired!  Every one of them is so unique!  I am so thankful for that!  I have noticed that sometimes friends become copies of one another...that is something that I do not want my girlfriends to be.  That's why I need ALL of them, because they all bring a different gem to my life.  Thank you ladies, you are all very special to me!

In conclusion...I am pretty blessed!

Inspiration Board

One of my first projects is to create an inspiration board.  During the last couple of months (ok, it's actually been a little more) I have felt very uninspired and robotic.  You know the drill, sleep/work/eat/sleep/work... it's time.  I am blaming this "mood" on my move out of the city and into a lonely Evanston studio.  Imagine trading in two great roomates for a small screen tv....hmmm yea not the best deal.

Anyway...back to my inspiration board...check out these links:

The Plan:  I have invited a couple of friends over to create our own inspiration boards...if everything goes as planned I should have it up by Monday!

So far I have this:

Yes!  My Banner is part of what will become my inspiration board!

So...The time has come...

Who wants to blog when your desk looks like this?

See the brown box...yes that's my laptop, still in it's box. If I really wanted to get started the first order of business was going to have to tackle this desk and give myself some space.
Before ^

After:

Much better!  I still have to add a couple more touches.  The gray board will become my inspiration board (more to come on that little project).  The "Live What You Love"' print is from this Etsy shop.

So now I can say...I am ready...let the blogging begin!

Cheers & Blessings!
